"Using Lumoral brings relief to my gum pain"

"Using Lumoral brings relief to my gum pain"

67-year-old Ilpo Lommi, a retired but still actively writing Finnish freelance journalist, has always been mindful of his health. Despite an active and healthy lifestyle, he has long struggled with oral health issues. Brushing and flossing alone were not enough to keep his gums healthy and his teeth intact.

Ilpo first learned about antibacterial Lumoral therapy last spring through his work, after reading a media report on the topic. Lumoral is a Finnish oral care innovation designed to promote oral health, particularly targeting plaque and gum inflammation issues. The unique method combines antibacterial light therapy with a specific Lumorinse mouthwash, aiming to reduce harmful bacteria in the mouth and slow the formation of new plaque.

"I had never heard of such technology before, but I thought if it could help improve my oral health, it would be worth trying," Ilpo says.

Surprised by the first experiences

Initially, using the device felt a bit odd, Ilpo admits. The device takes some getting used to, but he quickly adapted. "I soon noticed that my gums were less irritated, and the pain in my gums also lessened," he says.

He has been administering the antibacterial treatment about once a week for the past four months, usually in the afternoon or evening before bed. Ilpo occasionally uses interdental brushes as well, but those have always been a challenge due to the tight spaces between his teeth. He reminds that antibacterial treatment does not replace the need for regular brushing and flossing, but works as an adjunct therapy that enhanced the effect of traditional oral hygiene.

After a few months of regular use, Ilpo noticed significant improvements in his oral health, he says.

"My gums don’t bleed as much as before, and they don’t hurt. Overall, my mouth feels cleaner and fresher." While he sometimes experiences slight tingling in his gums during the antibacterial treatment, it’s not bothersome or painful.

Ilpo has decided to increase his Lumoral use to twice a week, as recommended to him. "I’ve noticed improvements even with once-a-week use, but I believe increasing it might enhance the results," he reflects.

Before using Lumoral, Ilpo often experienced gum pain and bleeding, especially when eating hard foods like dry bread or from brushing too hard. "I used to think that teeth wouldn’t get clean without brushing hard," he admits. Now, he feels that any potential pain in his mouth is more short-lived, and bleeding or discomfort is less frequent thanks to Lumoral treatment. Switching to an electric toothbrush and using a softer brush likely helped as well, he adds.

"It's important to see how the device affects oral health in the long run. I’m looking forward to my next dentist appointment to get a professional opinion on how much Lumoral has improved my oral condition," Ilpo notes. His next dental check-up is in October.

Concern for health inspires regular Lumoral use

Ilpo is well aware of the importance of oral health in overall well-being. He is particularly concerned about his gum health and its impact on the health of his entire body.

"Gum health is crucial because gum diseases can affect the whole body. I hope Lumoral will continue to keep my mouth healthy and prevent oral health problems from worsening," he says.

Ilpo also mentions a major leg fusion surgery he underwent in January 2018, which lasted several hours. After the operation, he developed a bacterial infection, leading to the removal of the support rods and pins from his leg. Although the exact cause of the infection was not identified, Ilpo suspects that bacteria could have entered his bloodstream from dental cavities.

"My teeth were filled in December before the surgery, but some cavities were left untreated because my surgery date was moved up, and my dental care was rushed. I suspect this might have been one reason for the bacterial infection, but we can't be certain. We don't know for sure if the infection came from the hospital or from poor oral health," Ilpo explains.

Ilpo has recommended the Lumoral device to his acquaintances, especially those who have had oral health issues. "It’s important to take responsibility for your own oral health and be open to new technologies that can complement traditional methods," he says. However, he emphasizes that Lumoral's effects may vary from person to person.

Ilpo plans to continue using Lumoral and monitor its effects at his future dentist appointments.

"I want to see how much this device really improves my oral health, and I hope I can share good news in the future," he adds.
